Prayer & Fun… They are Essential

From Your Senior Pastor:

G. C.  Brown, Consultant of Cargill Associates, told church leaders that prayer and fun are essential to any successful and fruitful stewardship venture.  So, I am asking all of us in this family of faith to pray EVERY single morning and to attend our all church party, open house and church dinner on Sunday.                                                                                                   .

Mickey and I started yesterday a change in our routine as we stopped our phones and our response to emails and other regular responsibilities in the early morning to talk to each other and to thank God for our many blessings.  One of our challenges recently has been many extra expenses and the challenge of time.  Just like many of you it is easy to put other priorities before sharing together, as a people of God.  For a long time we have been grabbing time here and there for each other and concentrating on prayer time individually.  We usually get time with each other every day but not enough uninterrupted time to really “connect  with each other in the Spirit of Christ.   We have promised that is changing and we have started that change this week .

Another thing which is important relates to having a good time.  That has always been the last to go in our daily lives.  Vacations and weekly fun have been pushed aside over our forty some years of marriage, to be responsible Christian people.  We are now being intentional about planning fun times.  Sometimes the church forgets to have fun together. Sunday, January 29, is our time to be together and have fun!  This will be our church family gathering where we celebrate our building upgrades, look at our family pictures, eat and laugh and get ready for a great four months ahead of us as we climb the tall mountain of raising funds for our building expansion.

I hope you will be at our PARTY on Sunday!  The details are on the front of  this newsletter.  Invite family and friends to come with you.  Lunch starts being served at 11 am.  Hot dogs and hamburgers are being cooked by United Methodist  Men on the grills in our garden. We are getting chicken and the fixin’s, too, and there is going to be an auction for the donated pies and cakes. It is will a great time!!!

SO….pray and have fun, keep the focus on God’s purposes and together we will fulfill our goals.
REMEMBER, FIRST YOU MEET CHRIST and everything else falls in place.

Blessings,
Bert
