6:00 pm In The Sanctuary

.

The Lenten journey to the cross begins with Ash Wednesday. As we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, we begin on Ash Wednesday in an attitude of penitence. The ashes, made from last year’s palm leaves on Palm Sunday, will be placed on your forehead as we remember our own sin and Christ’s awesome grace and forgiveness.

.
This service will be filled with Taize, easy to sing, music and scripture reading.

.
All ages, children, youth and adults, will find this service especially meaningful. Please join us for fellowship and dinner in the CAC before the service. The service begins at 6:00 in the sanctuary.

At The 11:00 Service on Sunday

It is a great joy to know the strength of our scouting ministry at FIRST UMC EDMOND. We are leaders in the district and proud to share our facilities weekly for the many scouts we service. We believe strongly in the scouting ministry because of the emphasis on leadership. Our own, Zach Morey, will receive his Eagle Scout award in just a few weeks and there are so many others through our troop and others in the area who have received this high award of leadership. Zach participates in another troop, but we celebrate his achievement and his special place in this congregation.

.

Sunday, Feb 19th, we will hear from two young scouts regarding scouting and Rev. Don Vaught, Discipleship Ministries and Administration, will be preaching in all three services. There will be a reception in our Christian Activity Center following the service. If you are a former scout, a present scout, have a scout in the family or are a “want to be” scout, please come and be with us. All of our services will be meaningful and hope you will take part in them. We will have the posting of the colors.

On the first day of your Legacy Jewelry sale, we made $25.00 to begin an ongoing choir fundraising project. I will say that a pair of the pink heart earrings and matching heart necklace purchased by a church youth, one of our first buyers of jewelry, made us all happy to be able to share the used jewelry gifts with the congregation …. to bring new smiles to our choir supporters. Marie looked stunning in her new silver heart earrings.

Thanks for the donated used jewelry to begin our project.

Special Thanks, Love and Blessings go out to:

Already 5 or 6 people have determined they want to go on our first mission to Bolivia this September and others are excited about helping in other ways. Many new and varied opportunities will present themselves as we move now into a transformational relationship with other Methodists in Bolivia. They will teach us many things but mostly we will be people sharing the power of Christ with each other. I thought Rev. Stephenson did an incredible job presenting us a stirring sermon which inspired us to move into new paths of service and relationships. His message to see Jesus in the lives of the poor and all those around us was stirring. If you would like to be on David’s email list send me that request and I will get the information to him. If there are other interests you have let me know as well. We are grateful to the Emmanuel class for their love offering to support David. If other classes want to help him with his salary, pension, expenses of the ministry, etc. please let me know. David has to raise all of this himself and is a part of what he feels to be his servant role.

.

Joe and Jacque Emperly are our VIM Coordinators for our mission this September. For more information you can email them at .

.
Everyone who helped with Rev. David’s time with us is appreciated! Watch for more ministry details.
